Question for marines?

i'm 18 years old and about to graduate high school. college doesn't seem like a good fit for me right now and i'm considering enlisting in the marine corps. part of me is saying do it, and another part is saying don't. i know that it is a life changing decision and i'm trying to look at all my options. what i'm asking is; what is it that made you want to be a marine, and what went through your mind during basic training and the crucible?
