What should I do. Please help.?

I slapped my girlfriend of 8 months last night. She was behaving hysterically outside a club and accusing me of something I had no hand act or part in. I only slapped her lightly and immediately regretted it. She stormed off and wont return my calls. Were any of you ever in this situation.
