What is going on with my b drum? (kick drum)?

i just bought a brand new gretsch catlalina club shell pack. the b drum is 22"x20". i bought an evans emad II batter head and kept the gretsch reso head. i cut out 2 port holes in the reso bcz it was a solid head. i always tune by ear and ive nvr had a problem with it on my other drums or drum kits. but for sum reason on this new b, the sound is really quiet. im comparing it to my 20"x18" caca poopoo starter set with an aquarian kick II batter and reso which is much louder. with the giant size of this b i wouldve umed i was gonna b hearin machine gun blasts. but no, the sound is drown out by the cymbals and other drums. it sounds ok wen i mic it but just straight acoustically its weak. is there sumthin wrong with how i tuned it or is the evans emad II a quiet head or am i jus shyte outta luck?
