What the hell did I just find attached to my cats neck?

I found what looks like a skin colored g but small attached to my cats neck. It was smooth and squishy feeling and I tied a piece of dental floss around the base of it and I pulled it off then I felt a hard spot on his skin were it was and I picked it out with my fingernail till it was smooth but I have no idea what that was or wrer it came from.
